The name "Marantha"is arameic, Jesus' mother-tongue, and means "Our Lord may come". This does not refer to Jesus, but the museum wants to help the people understand Jesus' arrival in a deeper way and this, not only at Christmas.
The Museum shows a collection of Christmas Nativity Scenes in a unique ambiance. Life-size wooden figures, showcases, traditional woodcarving skills, accentuated by atmospheric lighting and sound installations. A sculpture garden makes the evolution of the sculptor’s art visible, and a mask exhibition gives an insight into another local tradition.
Special exhibitions that change throughout the year take place in the Sculptor‘s Atelier, and the visitor can watch the wood sculptor at his work.
