Perhaps the most important museum in the Eastern Alps of its kind was born out of a decade long passion for finding and collecting minerals. More than 1,000 individual examples from the depths of the earth around the Zillertal Alps and Hohe Tauern, some of which are approx. 30 million years old, are displayed. Special attractions are not only the largest “cairngorm” (smoked quarz) of South Tyrol and the authentic restructured Alpine fissure, but also the most beautiful “winding” mountain crystal in the world, which was
found in the mines of Predoi.
In our multimedia room, the formation of minerals is shown as well as the searching and finding of them. In addition, we explain the medicinal benefits – “the healing powers” of
the various minerals.
